RIVERSIDE COUNTY:

On February 28, 2018, Governor Edmund G. Brown announced the appointments of Russel L. Moore and Commissioner Gregory J. Olson to vacant judgeships in the Superior Court of California, County of Riverside.

Russel L. Moore, 41, has served as a deputy district attorney at the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office since 2005. He was an associate at Boccardo Law Firm LLP in 2005 and served as a deputy district attorney at the Contra Costa County District Attorney’s Office from 2001 to 2004. Mr. Moore earned a Juris Doctor degree from the University of San Francisco School of Law and a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of California, Los Angeles. He fills the vacancy created by a new position with the passing of AB103 on September 18, 2017.

Commissioner Gregory J. Olson, 53, has served as a commissioner at the Riverside County Superior Court since 2005. He served as a deputy public defender at the Riverside County Public Defender’s Office from 1990 to 2005. Commissioner Olson earned a Juris Doctor degree from the University of San Diego School of Law and a Bachelor of Arts degree from Seattle University. He fills the vacancy created by the retirement of Judge Richard A. Erwood.

A state Judicial Needs Assessment has found that the Riverside Superior Court is in dire need of judgeships to help process the growing caseloads in its communities. The filling of these vacancies by Mr. Moore and Commissioner Olson will greatly assist the Court’s goal in continuing to provide access to justice for court litigants.
