RIVERSIDE COUNTY:

On November 2, 2017 Governor Edmund G. Brown announced the appointment of Godofredo (O.G.) Magno and Randall S. Stamen to judgeships in the Superior Court of California, County of Riverside.

Godofredo (O.G.) Magno, 47, has served as a supervising deputy public defender and unit lead attorney at the Riverside County Public Defender's Office since 2014, where he served as a deputy public defender from 1998 to 2014. Magno earned a Juris Doctor degree from Southwestern University Law School and a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of California, Irvine. He fills the vacancy created by the retirement of Judge Michele D. Levine.

Randall S. Stamen, 50, of Riverside, has been a sole practitioner since 1994. He was an associate at the Law Offices of Thomas L. Miller in 1994 and at Reid and Hellyer from 1992 to 1994. Stamen earned a Juris Doctor degree from the University of San Diego School of Law and a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of California, Irvine. He fills the vacancy created by the elevation of Judge Richard T. Fields to the Court of Appeal.

A state Judicial Needs Assessment has found that the Riverside Superior Court is in need of 123 judicial officers to process its workload. With these new judgeships, the court will have 79 judicial officers, still a need of 44. The additional judgeships will help reduce some calendar sizes and improve access to justice for the citizens of Riverside County.
