Superior Court of California
County of Riverside
July 19, 2013
PUBLIC NOTICE – AUTOMATED TRAFFIC SERVICES
Due to several consecutive years of state budget reductions, the court is
forced to reduce the services that it can provide to the public. Effective
immediately, the court will offer limited in-person, and no live operator
telephone service, for litigants with traffic cases. In place of in-person
service, the court is automating many routine tasks through available
computers, kiosks, and telephones.
TRAFFIC CLERK APPOINTMENTS
Almost all traffic matters can be handled without having to come to a
courthouse by visiting the court’s website at
http://www.riverside.courts.ca.gov/ and clicking on the on-line services tab.
For those who have more complex traffic matters and the need to speak with
a court employee, Traffic and Collections Clerk Appointments may be
scheduled online by visiting the court’s website at
http://www.riverside.courts.ca.gov/traffic/scheduleappt.shtml Appointments
may also be scheduled using the computers in the courthouse lobbies.
Appointments are available Monday through Friday, from 7:30 am to 3:30 pm,
in the following court locations:
• Banning Court
• Hemet Court
• Indio Larson Justice Center
• Moreno Valley Court
• Murrieta Southwest Justice Center
Appointments are available Tuesdays and Fridays ONLY, from 7:30 am to 3:30
pm, in the following court location:
• Blythe Court
Night Court Appointments are available as follows:
• Indio Larson Justice Center – 1st Tuesday of the month until 5:30 pm
• Moreno Valley Court – 3rd Wednesday of the month until 6:30 pm
There will be a limited number of pre-populated appointment types that you
can choose from, such as request a third extension or request to change a
citation to owner’s responsibility, and evaluation for hardship payments or
community service. When requesting an appointment, you will be asked to
provide your telephone phone number and email so you can receive a
confirmation and other messages.
Since a clerk appointment does not constitute a court appearance, an
appointment can be scheduled in any of the appointment locations listed
above, regardless of the jurisdiction of the citation. Please note, setting an
appointment does not extend your date to appear or alter or extend any
statutory or court ordered deadlines.
An appointment may be scheduled up to two weeks in advance and each
appointment will be scheduled for 15 minutes.

REQUESTING A COURT APPEARANCE
Same-day court appearances are no longer offered in any traffic court
location. Customers can reserve a court date 24 hours a day, 7 days a week
through the court’s public website. Once calendared, the customer will be able
to bypass the traffic counter and report directly to the courtroom without
standing in line in the clerk’s office.
To appear in front of a judicial officer for a traffic citation, you must reserve a
court date. Please note that your appearance in court is OPTIONAL
unless “Mandatory Appearance” is reflected on your Courtesy Notice.
If “Mandatory Appearance” is indicated in the amount due section on your
Courtesy Notice, you are required to appear.
Court appearances will be scheduled in the court of jurisdiction (court location
cited to appear) as follows:
• Banning
• Blythe Court
• Hemet Court
• Indio Larson Justice Center
• Moreno Valley Court
• Murrieta Southwest Justice Center (beginning August 19, 2013)
• Temecula Court (until August 16, 2013)
Night Court will be an available option for court appearances at the following
courts of jurisdiction:
• Indio Larson Justice Center on the 1st Tuesday of the month – 5:00
pm
• Moreno Valley Court on the 3rd Wednesday of the month – 5:30 pm
To schedule a court appearance, customers may use the computers in the
courthouse lobby, or go online from any location and visit the court’s website
at http://www.riverside.courts.ca.gov/traffic/reqcourtappearance.shtml.
Cases must be eligible for a court appearance, and scheduling a court
appearance does not extend your date to appear or alter or extend any
statutory or court ordered deadline.
NOTE: The law enforcement officer who cited you will not be present at this
hearing. If you wish to contest your citation (plead not guilty and proceed
with a Court Trial to tell your side of the story and present evidence and/or
witnesses) you must post the full bail amount (fine) of your citation and
reserve a court date online at https://www.epay-it.com/.
POST BAIL (FINE) AND SCHEDULE A COURT TRIAL
Court customers who intend to contest a citation (plead not guilty) must post
bail (pay the full amount of the fine) and reserve a court date online or by
mail.
To post bail and schedule a court trial by mail, payments should be mailed to
the Payment Processing Center, 505 S. Buena Vista, Room 201, Corona, CA
92882. To post bail and schedule a court trial online, customers may use the
computers in the courthouse lobby, or go online from any location, and visit
the ePay-it.com website at https://www.epay-it.com/.
Court Trials will be scheduled in the court of jurisdiction (court location cited
to appear) as follows:
• Banning Court
• Blythe Court
• Corona Court
• Hemet Court
• Indio Larson Justice Center
• Moreno Valley Court
• Murrieta Southwest Justice Center (beginning August 19, 2013)
• Temecula Court (until August 16, 2013)
You will be advised that the court will set a trial date and you will receive
notification within 7-10 days. The court will subpoena the officer(s) for trial.
Eventually, you will be able to select a court trial date at the time you are
scheduling.
For more information regarding contesting a traffic ticket, please visit the
court’s website at http://www.riverside.courts.ca.gov/traffic/contesting.shtml.
PAYMENT KIOSKS
Payment kiosks are in the test stage and will be launched in traffic court
locations. Details will be announced soon.
